“How hard can it be to tell a classic love story?”
Verona Çıkmazı is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. A Narrator, devoted to telling this love story known by everyone, wants only to recount the classic tale as it is. Yet Rosaline — whom we know from the original text as Romeo’s first love, who does not return his feelings — strays from the story and falls in love with Romeo.
But what if the conflict between the Narrator and Rosaline stands in the way of Romeo and Juliet’s journey toward true love? Or what if this very conflict becomes the cause of their true love?
On one side, a Narrator who changes disguises and resorts to all sorts of tricks to complete the story. On another, Rosaline, unwilling to lose her love. And on the other side, Romeo and Juliet, who simply want to live their love. And Paris — strolling about with his aura — unaware of everything that is unfolding!
With these characters, it seems impossible for the story to reach its true ending without falling into a deadlock. Ah, what a pity…
