Taksim'e Kadar
Scenic Design
Epizodik Yapım, 2025
The play Taksim’e Kadar emerged through a collaborative structure in which each character was written by a different writer and later brought together by Zelal Buldan. Just as we do not know the stories of the passengers sitting beside us during a real shared taxi ride, the writers, too, created their own characters without knowing the stories of the others.
On a rainy Istanbul morning, inside a shared taxi traveling from Bakırköy to Taksim, six passengers and a driver — each from different ages, classes, and backgrounds — come together. Each embarks on a journey filled with personal concerns, inner voices, dreams, and regrets. Over time, the vehicle transforms into a kind of confessional space; heartbreaks, disappointments, fears of death, family pressures, and personal impasses are voiced one by one.
The narrative unfolds through a structure in which the characters rarely engage directly with one another, yet observe each other closely and reveal their inner worlds. Each character is on a journey — both within themselves and in relation to society.
