Not Unsolved! turns domestic handiwork into testimony against the discourse that renders femicides invisible as “unknown perpetrator.”

The piece combines a video of embroidering news headlines onto individual parts of a garment with a collage of audio recordings. Stitching moves beyond craft to become a recording method that fixes names, places and the harshness of sentences onto fabric.

The edit overlays the repetitive cadence of newscasts with the rhythm of the needle; cuts, close-ups and textual fragments interrupt the normalization of violence in public language. The refrain “Not unsolved—never was” returns as a counter-statement across the image.

Garment fragments function like pieces of “evidence,” evoking both the absent body and the trace of the violence directed at it.

Positioned between mourning and protest, and between invisible care work and public memory, the work invites viewers to reconsider language, representation and justice.
