Connection is conceived as a surface tracing the fractures carried from the past into the present, and the bonds formed in response to them.
The wires extending across the surface carry destructive traces accumulated and transmitted over time; as they move, they stretch, pierce, and tear the fabric. Fiber optic lights represent invisible networks of knowledge, awareness, and discovery.
The red threads do not attempt to fully repair the ruptured surface; instead, they create fragile connections that temporarily resist disintegration. These threads make visible the effort of people, communities, and life itself to remain together and hold onto one another despite ongoing fractures. While some gaps can be partially held together, others remain open.
The work explores humanity’s relationship with inherited fractures, the layered structure of collective memory, and the possibility that knowledge becomes transformative only through shared experience, intervention, and solidarity.
